This morning, I was searching my house for an important piece of paper from the DMV. I just received it a couple of days ago, so I hadn’t filed it away yet. I remembered specifically that I had left it on the edge of the table. The question was, unfortunately, which table? After searching my dining table, office desk, and bedroom dresser, the paper in question turned up in the cellar – on the family room table. Oh, yes … that’s where I left it.
Sometimes, navigating your website can evoke the same process. It must be here somewhere, but where? Sometimes, even site search can’t unmask poor information architecture, misplaced content, or mislabeled files.
So, how do you get it together? Strategy. It’s a simple word that evokes a range of reactions and packs a real punch when executed properly.
The thing about strategy, particularly online, is that it requires nurturing. It’s never a bad time to review your online strategy, particularly with the speed at which the online environment can change. No one could have predicted 20 years ago the power of the web, 10 years ago the power of search, or 5 years ago the power of social networking. The web and the tools that live online continue to evolve, impacting your visitors, your members, and, of course, your online strategy.
Luckily, we’re here to help you uncover successful online strategies for your association or nonprofit. In fact, we’ve put together three, in-depth sessions for an engaging day of learning about success on the web. It’ll cover topics including website strategy, content strategy, and social media strategy. It’s called Progress U. – Empowering Organizational Progress Through S.O.S. (Successful Online Strategies), and it’ll bring together a range of expert speakers and attendees from the association world. Best of all, it’s free.
But it’s coming up one week from today. If you haven’t reserved your spot, you better do so now!
Oh, and, what to do when you need help finding or filing your own paperwork? We’ll leave that to the professional organizers.
See you next Thursday!
